VICTORIA – The Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria has for the first time been named to the top 95 Master in Management programs by FT (the Financial Times) for its Master of Global Business (MGB) program.

As one of only three Canadian schools to make the list, Gustavson’s success is driven by its international education focus.

In its first appearance in the study, the Gustavson School of Business ranked #71 overall, and as one of only three Canadian universities to be listed. Gustavson’s commitment to international education was highlighted by being ranked 14th in the world in terms of international course experiences.

This category reflects the extent that graduates study in countries other than where the school is based. MGB students spend two academic semesters abroad and complete an international internship, as well as instruction in a second language, as part of their mandatory program requirements.

“We’re incredibly honoured to be ranked by the Financial Times, something that is quite remarkable for a smaller business school,” says Saul Klein, Dean of the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business.

“Our unique approach to management education, expert faculty and engaged students lie at the heart of this success. By focusing on the development of a global mindset, our graduates gain a strong awareness and understanding of the world’s complex business challenges and hone the skills needed to solve them.”

Gustavson’s MGB, offered through the Sardul S. Gill Graduate School, is the only degree program in Canada that is delivered on three continents. Students choose to go on from Victoria to study in either Austria and Taiwan, or France and South Korea, or Peru and the Netherlands, to complete their degrees with the school’s education partners.

These include: National Sun Yat-Sen University (Taiwan), Johannes Kepler University (Austria), Montpellier Business School (France), Sungkyunkwan University Business School (Korea), Maastricht University (The Netherlands) and CENTRUM Catolica Graduate Business School (Peru).

67 students from 13 countries around the world are currently at UVic beginning their global journeys. The MGB program has produced 246 alumni since it was launched in 2010.
