Porsche Centre Victoria & Campus Nissan Win Green Auto Award

September 30, 2016

VICTORIA – Porsche Centre Victoria and Campus Nissan have received the Clean Energy Vehicle for BC (CEVforBC™) Green Star Awards from the New Car Dealers Association of BC (NCDA-BC) for selling more plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs) than any other dealerships on Vancouver Island in 2015.

“Congratulations to Campus Nissan and Porsche Centre Victoria on your achievements in the sales of electric vehicles” said Bill Bennett, Minister for Energy and Mines, who presented the award.

“BC’s new car dealers play a vital role in encouraging more and more British Columbians to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle. With 98% of the electricity generated in B.C. coming from clean or renewable resources, stimulating the purchase of electric vehicles is one of the most effective ways to reduce greenhouse gases.”

The Green Star Awards are a series of CEVforBC™ Program Dealer Awards that specifically recognize the highest number of Clean Energy Vehicle sales in 2015, across all brands, by provincial region (Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Interior and Northern BC).

In 2015, Porsche Centre Vancouver sold 8 plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), more than any other automobile dealer on Vancouver Island. And Campus Nissan sold 56 battery electric vehicles, more than any other automobile dealer on Vancouver Island.

“Today we celebrate the outstanding efforts of two more NCDA members who are being honoured with Green Star Awards for selling the highest number of electric vehicles in B.C.,” said Blair Qualey, President and CEO of the NCDA-BC. “Thanks to dealers like Porsche Centre Vancouver and Campus Nissan, B.C. is becoming a leader in offering clean energy vehicle transportation options for all British Columbians.”

Electric vehicle (EV) sales have been steadily increasing, jumping by 32 per cent from 2014 to 2015 according to Canadian auto research firm FleetCarma. One of the reasons for the increase is due to the incentive programs available to consumers including the CEVforBC™ program, which is funded by the Province of BC and administered by the NCDA-BC. CEVforBC™ offers up to $5,000 to B.C. residents who purchase or lease an eligible new battery electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

“We’re honoured to receive the CEVforBC™ Green Star Award for the highest number of plug-in hybrid vehicles sold on Vancouver Island in 2015,” said Paul Rossmo, General Manager, Porsche Centre Victoria.

“Thanks to the support from the provincial government, our customers are choosing clean energy vehicle options, helping put BC at the forefront of investments in the environment.”

“We’re delighted to receive the CEVforBC™ Green Star Award for the highest number of battery electric vehicles sold on Vancouver Island in 2015,” said Brad Osterman, General Manager, Campus Nissan.

“We’re already well on our way to meet or exceed BEV sales for 2016. We consistently receive feedback from our customers that the clean energy vehicle incentives are a major deciding factor when considering purchasing a clean energy vehicle. The CEVforBC™ program is making a difference in encouraging our customers in Victoria and beyond to consider clean energy vehicle options.”
