NANAIMO – The Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Mid-Vancouver Island (HFHMVI) is delighted to announce that Rob Hallam has been selected as the new Executive Director for the affiliate. Hallam was hired after a comprehensive search, and the Board is confident he will advance the affiliate’s goal of building 20 homes by 2020.
With more than 25 years of experience as a senior executive in the non-profit sector, Hallam brings significant expertise in building and leading teams in complex environments, fundraising, operational management, and community development. With an MBA in strategic planning, and experience spanning multiple countries working with diverse organizations, he adds a wealth of knowledge to the organization.
“By bringing Rob on, we will be able to expand on our current success, and the affiliate will continue to grow and fulfill our mission to reduce poverty by building simple, decent, affordable homes for qualifying low-income families, providing them with a ‘hand up’ not a ‘hand out’,” says Dave Hitchcock, HFHMVI Board Chairman. “We are excited and confident that Rob’s leadership will take us to the next level.”
Prior to joining HFHMVI, Hallam held the role of Executive Director of Playground Builders, an NGO (non-governmental organization) building playgrounds in war-torn regions with a focus on Afghanistan. His previous experience also includes working with the Canadian Network for International Surgery in the role of Executive Director, and prior to that, he was President and CEO of the Omaha Symphony Orchestra where he spearheaded an endowment fund campaign and raised $17 million dollars.
