Sean Sureus Named President of Surerus Pipeline
FORT ST. JOHN - Surerus Pipeline Inc. and Surerus Murphy Joint Venture (SMJV) are pleased to announce that Sean Surerus has been appointed President of Surerus Pipeline Inc. In addition, Sean will continue to serve on SMJV's Executive and Board of Directors. The transition was effective January 22, 2018.
Sean has served as Vice President of Surerus Pipeline since 2012 and of SMJV for the past three years. He will take over as President from his father, Brian Surerus. Brian founded the company in 1969 and will remain active in the pipeline business' operations as CEO.
"It is with great pleasure that we announce Sean is moving into the role of President. This is a natural progression after Sean's leadership in helping to grow the business from a regional contractor to one of the largest pipeline construction companies in Canada, and particularly with the development of SMJV," says Brian Surerus.
"In addition to a great understanding of the company's history, Sean has a deep knowledge of Surerus' people and values. Under Sean's leadership, we have a clear plan for the company's future and its continued success," he added.
"I look forward to leading the company into this next exciting phase," said Sean. "It is an honour to continue the excellent work my father has done over the past 48 years in building Surerus Pipeline Inc. into an industry leader in Canadian pipeline construction."
Chris Pezoulas will assume the role of Vice President – Operations at SMJV following a 25 year career at TransCanada Pipelines, where he was most recently Project Director of the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission project.
"Chris is a tremendous addition to our team. His vast experience as an industry leader and his familiarity with SMJV will ensure a seamless transition from Sean and support our successful pursuit of new opportunities. I am confident that we will continue to be the company of choice for our people and our clients by delivering safe and quality work," said Mick Fitzpatrick, President of SMJV.
Established in 1969, Surerus Pipeline Inc. has installed more than 7,000 km of pipe across some of the toughest terrain in Canada. Starting with one dump truck in Fort St. John, BC, Surerus has grown to become one of the nation's largest pipeline construction companies with permanent operations in Fort St. John, Calgary and Gibbons, Alberta.
Surerus Murphy Joint Venture (SMJV) brings together two leading family owned construction companies, Surerus Pipeline Inc. and J. Murphy & Sons Ltd. of London, UK. SMJV is based in Calgary and is a fully integrated joint venture that is focused on delivering complex pipeline construction projects.
